Self organisation is all around us. We observe all kinds of self organising patterns in flora and fauna.
Also many IT applications nowadays involve self organisation, for example, swarms of robots, computer clusters,
artificial life applications, etcetera. Recent research in AI looks at the analysis and design of collective
intelligence within such groups of entities. Evolution, learning, social interactions and other adaptation
mechanisms make such intelligence possible.
The first edition of DECOI was a great succes. Participants from 11 different countries spent an intensive week exchanging
knowledge, following lectures and presenting their sollutions for the contest. The attention for this first edition proved that
the fields evolutionary computing and self organizing systems provide vital insights for understanding and engineering many
phenomena in the world surrounding us. It is our intention to make DECOI a yearly event, so keep checking this page for info on DECOI2007.
The Design Of Collective Intelligence Summer School is finished. Check this page in 2007 for news on a new edition.
